Fred Bolton - man behind the myth?
« on: December 01, 2019, 09:41:03 PM »

I am in the early stages of working on a book about the community & club that is Sanctuary Cove on Australia's Gold Coast. Fred Bolton is credited with designing the first course (the original "Palms") in the mid '80's. That course was redesigned by Ross Watson in 2011 - using many of the original corridors. Bolton is also credited with design of Arundel Hills, Gainsborough Greens, Emerald Lakes and ????

Information about Bolton is pretty non existent so I would love  to hear from the DG.

What do I think I know already:
-American citizen who worked for Nicklaus on original rebuild of the Australian (mid 70's?)
-married a local lady while here...and stayed
-credited with design of 5 or 6 courses on the Gold Coast (but not much else that I can find)
-died here probably 30 years ago

Any input or leads greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
