I agree with Peter Kessler. This No Laying Up "content" is pure crap. Who actually enjoys watching these dudes eat lunch?

i'm a big fan of their podcasts but don't watch any of their content on cpu/mobile, save for the occasional post-round recaps they do minutes after they finish. (perfect example would after this year's pga, they had a 20 min recap show w/ their POV's up within 20 mins of tourney ending. like a laid back version of golf channel's "live from")

I dunno...NLU is not perfect, but I like the podcast interviews and the videos.  I obviously read stuff on here, so I'm most interested in the courses, history, and course video...less so the personalities and the eating lunch.

I listened to Kessler on Feed the Ball and he seems a bit unhinged even after explaining his feelings on NLU and golf media in general.  Kessler is another personality that makes golf interesting (maybe for his comically large ego alone), but how is he furthering his art by saying everyone and everything is terrible?  Oh, except Amanda Balionis, who he has never met...we can all see she is attractive and can give an interview...gee, I wonder why she gets a pass.

PK said he's about to come out with some 10-minute short features that seem to have no promotion associated with them...REVOLUTIONARY!
So I jump ship in Hong Kong....

I listen to their podcast. I like the interviews with Tour pros, which are mostly with the lower level PGA players and Web.com guys.

I watch their videos. When I first saw them show up on YouTube, I thought I would find them cheesy and/or terrible. I watched one and haven't stopped.

I also enjoy Erik Anders Lang's videos.

I'm a big fan.  I actually think most of this series was well done.  I really enjoyed it, and enjoy much of their other content.

Don't get me wrong, I think Peter Kessler is completely crazy.

My only point is that I think he is correct in calling these videos what they are.

Regardless of whether or not the content is good or we like it, we should all love the message NLU puts out.  They are proponents of classic architecture, they love Scottish golf and extoll the benefits of sub 6,000 yard courses, and they think the ball goes too far.

If there is going to be a rollback any time soon, a large part of it is going to be driven my dreaded millenials as they grow older.  If these are the "journalists" young golfers are listening to, they have a message that aligns with this treehouse very well.  We should all be pretty excited that the "cool kids" in golf think like we do.

People can say whatever they want about these guys but they are spreading interesting golf courses and course architecture interests to a whole new audience.

Totally agree.

But, I can't help but laugh at the irony of their main sponsoring being Callaway and the mentions of just how amazingly far its new driver goes on the recent podcasts.

However, I don't begrudge. Everyone's got a make a living and they are doing it what seems like a pretty fun and enjoyable fashion. I bet most of us wish we were getting paid to play golf, travel, talk about golf, and interview pro golfers.

I really like their videos.  They not only try to give you a sense of the golf courses, but also a sense of the place.  So I enjoy the footage of the various bars and restaurants as well as the course, or of everyone in the line waiting for the tee sheet at the Old Course, or of the Archive room at Nairn.  I have never been to Scotland and would love to get there multiple times as soon as possible, so this content is nice to familiarize myself a little more before that happens.

I also like that NLU has no agenda.  They tell you if they like the course and if so, what they like about it.  That's very refreshing when compared to other podcasts trending right now that I couldn't say the same about.

The No Laying Up guys owe much of their Architectural thinking to our own Andy Johnson/ The Fried egg. Andy's not on NLU as much as he once was (I think he's plenty busy with his stuff) but I have heard both the two main guys repeatedly talk about getting their love of 'width and angles' and GCA appreciation from Andy. I could see a Width and Angles T Shirt as good merch (that's what the kids call it).

The other thing I think they are doing is being vocal about what needs to change in the way of Golf Television and holding broadcasters feet to the flames when it comes to all the crap that makes it on TV broadcasts that's not golf and things like CBS's lack of toptracer. Their post major recaps are must watch for me.

Like an OT thread on GCA -- its free and if you don't like it no one is forcing you to watch/read/tweet.

The saddest part was linking through to other videos and seeing how much poor old Matthew Mollica's swing has changed.

I guess Keiser training doesn't really work after all.

Too funny.  I never paid attention to their Australian tour, so I had no idea that MM was their host at RM.  I just watched it....great stuff.

The No Laying Up Guys have uploaded a film to YouTube in the last 24 hours - a take on Shell’s WWOG and features the back nine at Isleworth CC and a modified Wolf Hammer format. I highly recommend watching it. These guys are special.

The Wild World of Golf is awesome!

I did not even consider watching The Match, but I watched every second of this. I'm hooked on the format after just one.

Huge fans of the NLU guys. While they may be less informed on the nuances of architecture than Matty G, they come across as guys that if you got paired at with at a resort you'd spend three hours at the bar with them and be all the better for it.

I’ve just watched a stack of their Fife videos. They certainly got the best Scottish weather and Course conditions! Quite enjoyed their banter. Respectful but also refreshing.
Well done, NLU guys!
