And why not?  It’s a long way to travel for the day!

It was blowing a hoolie, and great fun until the 12th when it started pouring down as well. Hopefully it will be drier tomorrow and I can repeat today’s 2 at the 9th!😎

The course is in fine shape and we’re in for a treat!

As you might imagine with a name like Duncan, I’m not short of a drop of Scots blood myself!

I’m not quite as much of a Jock  as Mr Trump is, but Hey!

Looking a bit blustery today so should be a good match.

Good luck to both Duncan and Tim.

Tim won 4/3 (I believe) in a more than moderately sporting breeze.
In June I will be riding the first three stages of this year's Tour de France route for charity.  630km (394 miles) in three days, with 7800m (25,600 feet) of climbing for the William Wates Memorial Trust (https://rideleloop.org/the-charity/) which supports underprivileged young people.

Well done Tim and unlucky Duncan.

In light of our two winners to date, it seems being a member at NBWL gives you the best chance of succeeding in the knock out.

Michael/Ian/Sean...I’m expecting big things in the 2019 edition!

Sounds like a decent match.  Now how about some details, pictures and the course conditions.  Thanks.
It must be kept in mind that the elusive charm of the game suffers as soon as any successful method of standardization is allowed to creep in.  A golf course should never pretend to be, nor is intended to be, an infallible tribunal.

Good show, all involved and the contenders.
No actual golf rounds were ruined or delayed, nor golf rules broken, in the taking of any photographs that may be displayed by the above forum user.

David,

I'm just hoping to reach the 2nd round! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a bye.

All the BBC reporters were elsewhere either covering Brexit or Andy Murray's demise so you will need to put up with my reporting on the amount of the match I saw as they played behind us and then played through. From what I saw the two of them were playing some pretty good stuff judging by some of their approach shots. The greens were rolling well for the time of year and while not fast, they were had to judge because of the wind.

We saw the guys approaches at the 9th (the one at BUDA when I said it was modeled on the Postage Stamp you argued it wasn't and obviously you were wrong  ;)) with Duncan hitting the green and Tim just going off the edge on the right into a bunker. Tim managed to get up and down while Duncan unfortunately 3 putted which was a major turnaround in the hole. At the next Tim managed to hold a good putt for par and Duncan just missed his from a similar distance. I suspect those two holes were the turning point in the match.

As for the course, it was in good nick for the time of year which most courses are given the relatively dry summer that we had. The rough was fairly playable and if we lost a ball it was generally because we lost sight of it looking into the sun. They club also seems to have done a lot of clearing work on out of play areas where they have taken out gorse and cut back the rough. All in all looking pretty good.

Michael,

The second round is about the extent of my ambition too given my form from the past two years (L L) so a bye would be welcome, if nothing else to prolong my involvement!
