Artisans Golf (UK)

The subject of Artisans Golf Clubs in Britain gets discussed here every once in a while. I recently came across this website, which lists a surprising number of clubs with Artisan affiliates.

Unless things have changed I know that both The Berkshire and Royal North Devon have artisans. The last time I played The Berkshire I played through a foursome of artisans and RND has an artisans clubhouse.

This is a really cool concept and something I'd love to see adopted in the U.S. - either on a state, regional or national level. Are the clubs listed all private or are there public Artisan courses too?

In a way this is akin to buying a annual ski pass through a provider such as Vail Resorts, i.e. their EPIC Pass, which for $1,000.00 gives pass holders unlimited skiing at all of their affiliated properties for that season. Mountain Collective is another one that competes against EPIC and has resorts affiliated with it outside of North America. I think EPIC does now too, but it goes to show you just how small the world is becoming.

The thing I like about Artisan Golf is that it asks members to invest personal time maintaining their home course, which gives each individual a more personal stake and investment in the membership. Great idea!

I saw the list, that's why I was surprised not to see The Berkshire or RND.

Also missing on that list is Swinley Forest.
