Anyone in Bandon right now?
« on: November 30, 2018, 06:05:58 PM »
Or in the next couple weeks/ or Jan./ Feb.?

I’m around and would like to meet up, either in the evenings or on Sundays for some golf.

Ok, Joe ... why are you in and/or around Bandon for the next couple of weeks, and in January and February, looking for golf games on a presumed "day off"?

Everyone wants to know ...  ;)

Joe,
I can make it.
I live near Salem and could come down for a day or 2, depending on weather. I can do it on short notice.
Do you have any specific days in mind?
Weekends are best, but I can do anytime from now until April.

Mike

Jeff,

Everyone wants to know, eh? I doubt that! I’m here working, helping the DMK team address some bunker evolution issues on Bandon Dunes. I’ve only been here once before, so I’m feeling very blessed to be able to spend some time on site, hopefully taking in all the great work that has been in place here from so many talented teams.

Mike,

I’ll likely be working full day M-F, partial days on Saturday and off on Sunday. My times to play will likely be at the mercy of the resort. Send me an IM, and I will get you my #.

Joe,

My wife, my two sons, and I will be there Jan 1 thru Jan 3. All four of us will play AM, but my wife will not play PM. You could join us for a PM round or two on those days.

Cheers

Brock,

Sorry, but I’ll still be home for the holidays. I return to Bandon on the 7th of January.

I’ll look forward to meeting you another time, hopefully!

So will Bandon Dunes be closed for a couple months then? Makes sense to do it this time of year if so I guess.

No.  It didn't close during the last round of changes either.  We are playing #2 from the alternate tees, which is a different look.

By the way, I'm here every day Joe.  Drop me a line and we can grab a beer.

 Sven,

Mike Hogan and I will be playing BD at 1:30. We’d love to have you join us.

Sven,

Thats all fine and good for par 3s with varying angles, but how do you any significant work on Center line bunkers?

What do you want me to tell you, Kalen?  Last year they eliminated centerline bunkers on the 11th and 17th without disrupting play.

As far as I know there are no plans to close the course other than the one day a week that is normal this time of year.  Joe probably knows better than me, but I'm guessing whatever they are doing isn't intrusive enough to necessitate keeping players off the course.

It’s truly amazing, as anyone who’s ever worked on the maintenance side of things can attest, how much work actually gets done without ever closing the golf course.

Sven,

I only ask because I've never encountered such a thing.  The closest thing would be getting out early a few times and having to wait on the mower on each green.  On a $25 muni I guess that would be no big deal, but encountering such things at a place like Bandon with $teep green fee$ seems entirely different.

I wasn't trying to be critical, just very surprised that m/o is acceptable, especially from a personal safety perspective.
