I saw a pic on Geoff Shackleford twitter last year showing a reunion of his father Lynn's famous UCLA team and his teammate was Ferdinand Lewis Alcindor Jr who later renamed himself Kareem Abdul Jabbar. I thought - wow!

I would say the Woods/Mickleson game is more like Airplane the movie than the NBA finals    I am not interested in it however the World Cup of Golf is more interesting to watch IMO

Safe to say not compelling one bit. Will be interesting to see what the PPV numbers look like..

Sometimes I let my real job seep into my posts, but glad this one spurred a good memory. Then again if it weren’t for American Professional Football, my wife and I probably would not have played golf in Ireland on a terrific trip that culminated in Dublin upsetting Kerry in the All Ireland Finals.

Poor Tiger.  I guess he is just not black enough for some, maybe to much for a few others, and way too rich for a larger group.  Not worth my $20, but if one of my neighbors invites me, I'll bring a 6-pack.  I think the match will be fun.  What is the over and under?

Very predicitable BHoover, keep working on that reading comprehension. 

P.S.  I never said I was "uninterested"...only that the match is not compelling...and by that I mean to purchase it on PPV.  If it was on a cable channel I already get I would probably tune in to see the course.

I really like the concept of a match over the Thanksgiving break.  A Nationally televised 1 day event is unique and it is unusual to be able to watch every single shot in a match without jumping around.  It would be really great if they had a format where the guys felt genuine pressure, but if it's not a major, a cup, or their own money, that is probably impossible. 


If this were an annual tradition, it would be cool if the winner held court and the invite for the challenger went out to the higher ranked player in the world .  That would be a nice financial incentive for guys jostling for the number one spot.  Also, if a guy won it a few years in a row, it would be interesting to see if someone could bump them off.  Like a king of the hill concept as the skins game used to be. 


We'll see how it goes, but I'm hoping that it kick starts some sort of annual tradition that gets improved upon.

I totally agree.  Used to love watching it during the winter.  You could have Freddy Couples, Mickelson, Woods (probably wouldn't play), maybe Tom Watson.  I'd like to see a Watson vs. Mickelson match after Phil dissed Tom after the Ryder Cup. Heck even have one of the LPGA golfers in there. Bernhard Langer or Montgomerie, there are a lot of options.  There has to be some sponsor out there who can put that together.
