Northside CC fka Jeffersonville CC, Perry Maxwell
« on: November 18, 2018, 10:00:26 PM »
Tucked towards the end of this article discussing the change in name from Jeffersonville to Northside is the mention that the course was built by Perry Maxwell.

Anyone know if the course still exists or where it may have been located?

There are only a couple of courses in Jeffersonville, both built well after the 1930s. Never heard of this one before.

There are few existing courses from Southern Indiana that fit the timeline. New Albany CC was built in 1922 I think, but was only nine holes. It's certainly possible that the Jeffersonville CC could have used this site. Probably unlikely.

Maxwell did a course in Louisville right? I think you uncovered that article if memory serves me right. He was from Princeton, KY and did a few courses in Western Ky as well as doing green work at the Lincoln Homestead course.

Quick search finds articles describing this course as 18 and 6000 years. Cool find Sven. It looks like tons of articles, I will try and find the location.

Sven did you ever get my email about Emmet possibly being at Terre Haute? I thought that was intriguing.

Maxwell was born in Princeton Kentucky and ended up designing 9 holes for a country club there. Kentucky Dam Village, a state park course, is supposedly a collaboration with Press. The greens and a bit of the routing have been modified there. Lincoln Homestead doesn't make one think of Maxwell either.
What was the name of the Louisville course?
