I didn't know Emma Peel or Diana Rigg but I did know Honor Blackman, her predecessor as an Avenger. She rang me up one day in a deep bass voice. In my BBC days I had broadcast some recordings of the Welsh soprano Mary Thomas, the brilliant singer who had created (difficult) roles for Peter Maxwell Davies (whom I knew very well). Honor got in touch with me because Mary had been her singing teacher and she wondered if it was possible to get hold of copies of some of her long deleted titles. I wasn't supposed to but, of course, I did, including even nursery songs. I get the most enthusiastic letter in response. I have it somewhere but can't lay my hands on it, but it was VERY enthusiastic!
