TD describes above what happened at Athens CC. The course today is about 200 yards shorter than it was in the 1950s and 1960s. When Athens CC stopped hosting college tournaments, it abandoned a number of back tees. Some are still in evidence; others are now hidden by scrub and trees.

(I am no longer a regular visitor to the course and not sure how recent tee extensions affect the above.)
