Golf in Peru

im headed back to Peru in December.  This time I will actually be playing golf.  I know golf isn’t that popular in Peru, but man does this country have some absolutely stunning sandy soiled coast lines!! I mean the word perfect comes to mind... Has anyone ever been contacted about building courses here?

I've never had a contact about Peru.


The holdups would be 1) water supply and 2) having enough golfers to support a good course.

My friend and Mexican golf architect Agustin Piza, built Peru's first public course a couple of years ago.

Looking at google maps, I see the name of the course is Cruz de Huesos (cross of bones)...


I had a short assignment in a refinery in far northern peru, but went to Santa Maria beach the day I left, which seems to be just south of San Bartolo where the course is located.


Pretty close to Lima (are there any private courses in Lima?)


Coastal desert, I was really suprised at how arid the Peruvian coastline is.

There are two.  Lima Country Club is pre-eminent of course.  It's very much in the city, and includes a hotel and a very high-end restaurant.  I'm told the food is as good as any golf club anywhere.

Food in Lima in general is probably as good as any place on earth. Lima Country Club is a great golf club.

I believe there is a PGA latinamerican stop at Club de los Inkas currently.

Thanks all.  As of now I will be playing los inkas, and la planicie.  Still waiting on Lima GC confirmation.  Interested in seeing the grass types used.
