NYC Mayor Hugh J. Grant Private Estate Course question
« on: October 14, 2018, 04:00:29 PM »
Around 1900, ex-NYC Mayor Hugh J. Grant had an 18 hole course designed on his estate in Oradell/Haworth NJ.
Any idea who designed it?   The timing and locale suggests Thomas Bendelow but I'm uncertain and was hoping for more information.   The land in question is part of White Beeches G&CC today.
Thanks for any information.

I was hoping this article from the 1911 Evening Telegram would give some info, but no:

Thanks Joe & Sven,

Seems Val Flood was busy in the area at that time but could I ask for your source, Sven?

Mike:

I honestly don't know.  I have his name noted in my files, but can't find were it came from.

Thanks, Sven...I have some of those in my files, as well.   As I come across things I'll jot them down but sometimes don't source it.
Greatly appreciate your info which I consider invaluable, thanks.
