Seems like the old supers crime was not turning a 200k loss into a 500k loss.

So, we have three candidates coming for a second interview. Three different ages (30, 40, 50) and experience. All three want to come for various and different reasons. All three have driven the course with me and the GM so they know the problems on the course, which are many.

Any second round questions we should ask? We covered most of the questions that were suggested.

Well, if they can read, they are probably all cheating by looking here for the questions, so this probably doesn't help much.

I would always choose the guy who is the most passionate about what he does [as opposed to, what he wants to do].  But you have to be good at judging the sincerity of the respondents for that method to work.  There are fakers in every business.

I would definitely ask them why they want to work at YOUR course.

And, what they think would be the most critical factor to their success there.

The candidate that I am partial to said, "Boy would I like to bring this golf course back to life." It was sincere. The GM likes a different candidate, hence the second round.

That’s certainly not the answer the GM wants to hear unless he/she is very new to their post!

The GM and I get along very well. We just feel under the gun to get this right for a variety of reasons. Our biggest problem is that golf loses $200,000 a year. Skiing drives the resort.

Well then you should ask them all what they could do with $90,000 less ... $100k for the budget but $10k more for them.
