« on: August 06, 2018, 03:58:39 PM »
Wondering what type of hazard is most appropriate/inappropriate for different abilities, ages, gender etc of players.
Ponds?
Streams?
Forced carries?
Long grass?
Trees?
Jungle/gunch?
Sand bunkers?
Grass bunkers?
Railway sleepers?
Short grass?
Hardpan?
Divot covered areas?
Other?

Ponds?
Never
Streams?
small ones generally fine for all
Forced carries?
only if you have alternate course for weaker players
Long grass?
only when rules bodies approve no lost ball technology.  Sparse long grass generally ok
Trees?
Never, to quote Dr mac, lined up like soldiers in a row. Used judiciously, ok for all but not blocking wind on links
Jungle/gunch
only ob
Sand bunkers?
given 2019 rules, always
Grass bunkers?
generally ok, but no jungle/gunch
Railway sleepers?
yawn
Short grass?
always
Hardpan?
hard to justify.
Divot covered areas?
can't collect shots from all skill levels
Other?
unlevel lies, always

There is no such thing as a bad type of hazard...so all hazards for all golfers, just get the balance right.
