While Waiting for 2nd Rd Coverage to Start...
« on: July 19, 2018, 09:17:56 PM »
A re-discovered clever short from 1992... "A Sense of History"... though not about golf in anyway, perfect for the air of "heritage" that strikes us when the Open is being played

If you're like me, you'll watch it three times initially ...once to check it out...two to linger on the details... and three, when you post it to your friends.

(Yes, it is Highclere Castle where Downton Abbey was shot)

Please Enjoy.

"The tee shot must first be hit straight and long between a vast bunker on the left which whispers 'slice' in the player's ear, and a wilderness on the right which induces a hurried hook." -

I learned they call it "sun cream" in the UK.

Brandon Stone found another round between Open rounds.

That is really weird that he did that.  I enjoy hickory golf as well and it would be a dream to play a hickory round at TOC, but no way would I squeeze one in after vaulting myself into contention in the Open.

Besides the energy component, the second reason that I wouldn't do it is that the way that the clubs hit is very different and I'd be afraid of throwing off my regular swing.  The hickory torque about 3 to 4 times more (12 degrees plus) and are more hooky.

I gotta root for the guy now though.  He's obviously crazy about golf.

Maybe it's a good way to keep his tempo down and keep him from getting excited - plus, give himself less time to worry about contending at The Open?

Ben Crenshaw came up to Crystal Downs in 1986 after the first round of the Buick Open, to putt on much slower and steeper greens.  And then he went back and shot 15 under the last three rounds to win the Buick!

Being mentally engaged and relaxed is pretty important to playing well.
