St. Andrews - Fun Round
« on: May 08, 2018, 12:26:54 PM »
Okay, of the seven courses at St. Andrews, which would be the most fun if you were staying away from the Old, New and Castle.

I am going to be there and have time for a relaxing round that I want to play with a Sunday bag etc.

Would you play the Eden or the Strathtyrum?

I guess I am asking which is the quirkier of the two?

Thanks!

Even including The Old, New and Castle, I would suggest The Eden...

When I was in St Andrews for 2 weeks with EIGCA in 2009, three of us would head out on The Eden every second night (5 rounds total) almost 2 hours after the last tee time and shoot round in 2 hrs 30.

Definitely one of the top few fun times had on a golf course.

What Ally said.
Without a doubt, grab the Sunday bag, a few balls and go live the high life on Mr Colt’s genius contribution to golf in St Andrews.

You maybe lucky and play on a day when I’ve hand cut the greens, as they are done everyday on the Eden course.

It’s a fine course, but 14 and 15 are the odd, newer additions to the course.

“Odd” is right.  They felt like they belonged to a completely different course - and not in a good way!  It’s a shame because the rest of the course is great fun with some wonderful greens.
