Can anyone point me to any in-depth histories of Piping Rock and Maidstone?  Want to study up.

James - Maidstone has a phenomenal club history that delves into the course in great detail. If you can find a copy of that I would recommend it.

+1 on the Maidstone history. It's quite good. It's sold in the pro shop.

There have actually been 3 club histories of Maidstone written over the years. The first was a 50th anniversary edition originally published in 1941. The second was a 100th anniversary project published in 1991. This consisted of 2 volumes -one an exact reproduction of the 50th year book, packaged with a 2nd volume for the years 1941-1991. The volumes have identical covers, fonts etc and came in a clamshell box that's holds both volumes with the Maidstone crest on its outside. And then finally last year a new, much more modern looking, 125th anniversary book that's a little over 100 pages full of color photographs.

I have all three books. Please let me know if you are looking for something specific in their history and I can try to look up an answer. Interestingly, none of the 3 efforts include a hole by hole description, and only the 100th anniversary book contains even a rudimentary routing map of the course on its inside front cover.

I am not aware of a book on Piping Rock. I do not own one, but their is a book on its neighbor, the Creek Club.

Best regards,

Michael

As far as I know there is no club history book for Piping Rock.  If someone is working on one, I would think they should contact me, considering that I supervised the work Mr Dye did in 1985, and then Bruce Hepner (working at my firm) rebuilt some of it 25 years later.

Was 1985 the last time they had work done?
