Malibu Institute?

Does anyone know about this project? Saw this listed as a project on Jackson/Kahn website in another thread. Pictures look like NLE Malibu CC being brought back to life. Ultra private or resort, public?

The J-K website does mention "William F. Bell's original 1976 design."

It's a work in progress. From Jackson Kahn's website:
Nestled in a secluded valley in the Santa Monica Mountains, The Malibu Institute will be both a refuge and center of learning. With a world class golf experience designed to be state of the art in sustainability and environmental sensitivity, the course will greatly improve upon William F. Bell's original 1976 design. Currently in planning, the institute will be one of the most unique hybrid golf / re-development projects in the world when fully realized.

That reminds me of when the course first opened as a 9 holer called Perfect Liberty Malibu. A group of orange robed monks lived up on a hill over the course. The Perfect Liberty church that owned the course turned out to be a tax dodge. The first time you played the course you had to sign a membership agreement( no cost) that they could suspend you for a month for a violation of course rules like not replacing a divot or driving a cart in the wrong place.

Will take quite a bit of cash to get it into a competitive condition.  I guess we don't know if it will be public or private although this Malibu Institute looks like a retreat for business or whatever... very vague.....

Or disturbing the silence.

And the many on-course marshals were very strict about pace of play.

I do miss the very loud gong that rang out periodically.
