Just curious, what carriers allow two bags with no charge?

I know Delta does, if you have “status”. I also think Southwest does, but I’m not positive.

Pete,

Alaska does...if you fly first class! I just traveled to LA this weekend and they allowed me to check on a massive bag full of lacrosse gear at no extra charge, along with my personal bag

P.S.  Not sure how large golf bags are in actual measurement...  but here is SouthWest's policy

Southwest will accept the first two checked bags for free provided that the bags do not exceed 50 lbs and 62 inches (L+W+H).

Flew southwest a couple months ago and had no issues both times with my golf bag.  Two free bags is an excellent deal.

Check Alaska policy if you have Alaska Air Visa and are enrolled in frequent flyer program.  I've had status with them for a long time and get two free bags and standard golf travel bags qualify if under 50 pounds.

Last year I flew Qantas, Cathay Pacific, Japan Air, Icelandair, and British Air, with a golf travel bag.  They had good baggage allowances, but British Air allows one in Economy.  British Air and Qantas allow two free bags in Premium Economy.  I think Cathay does too.  In business, you often are allowed two 32 kilo bags free on these airlines.

Always check the website.

I flew back and forth to New Zealand with no problems with an XL clubglove.  I leave the "TSA checked" placard in the bag.
It will either confuse them or save them from putting in another one.  I wish they would learn to relock and spin the TSA padlocks.
I lost one heading east to NZ, bought one there, and lost that on the return flights.

Ken, same thing happened to me. Now I put a note on top of the towels that are wrapped around the club heads asking them to please wrap the towels back around the clubheads. I haven’t had a problem since.

I wrap my yoga mat around my club heads. It works.

In addition to the stiff arm I use 2 inch double sided industrial Velcro about 18 inches long and tightly wrap all of the shafts together. TSA seems to actually rewrap it the way I had it.   The Velcro is hard to mess up. No broken club since I started to do this.
