When I played 36 at Hunstaton 2 years ago, I noticed that in the middle of the course was a wooden stick showing high tides back into history.  It gets flooded periodically, but the damage does not last long.

I have to think that in today's day of ultra-high real estate prices that the only way some courses get built is if there is nothing else that the land can be used for.  In the endless sprawl that is the Atlanta region, Atlanta National GC is on a flood plain, as is Capital City's Crabapple course.  Those are just two near me that come to mind.  Polo GCC is another.

What about all the courses in Houston that flooded after Hurricane Harvey?  Those could be in a floodplain.

Here is a vendor about flood insurance. http://www.golfcourseindustry.com/article/flood-risk-america-golf/

The Links at Summerly, Lake Elsinore is a golf course in the flood plain. https://www.thelinksatsummerly.com/

I used to teach at Elsinore HS and played the Links at Summerly quite a bit. It was controversial from the start as they were building homes around the course.  They were going to need flood insurance and the home building never started until several years after the course opened as they housing crisis came.  Nice links course with plenty of afternoon wind.

Also for those extreme sports enthusiasts Skydive Elsinore is just a few hundred yards away as is one of the best dirt bike tracks in So Cal.

Country Club of Fairfield floods with seawater all the time. It was built on a Marsh by Seth Raynor who hauled in fill for years to build it up.  There is a pole in the middle of the course showing the high water marks from the various Hurricanes.....literally 5 feet underwater.  Somewhere there is a picture of a guy windsurfing across it.
