Cut out the middleman and start with London and the Kent coast. You’ll then wonder why it took 6 trips to Scotland and Ireland before you found the best combination of links and inland golf in the world.

Have been most of those places.
For pure golf, a "self contained" venue with several excellent courses, it's BANDON.
Getting there is the hard part, once there, no driving time to eat into your golf time.

Cabo is a very good destination if you have a group willing to go to Mexico.  You are guaranteed to have great weather, there are a lot of nonstop flights and the Cabo del Sol Ocean course hits the sweet spot of being exciting for hardcore architecture nerds and those that care nothing about the topic. Diamante Dunes is an incredible course and all of the others are some combination of beautiful and good.
+1 for Cabo above in winter. Fantastic golf and weather in January and a great host.  From May thru Oct it doesnt get any better than Pebble, Spyglass, Spanish Bay, Poppy Hills and Pasatiempo on the way there or home.
I love golf, the fightin irish, and beautiful women depending on the season and availability.
