Congratulations on your system and thanks for the info.
What happens to the extra 10% that you generated in October? Do you get paid for that? Can it carry over into another month?

My bill actually runs from mid-month to mid-month. Unless the first half of November is very overcast or excessively hot, I expect to be a net producer for my upcoming bill cycle.

I will get paid, but in credit applied towards future bills. I expect they'll pile up for the next few months and then when we get to maybe April I will in theory owe for the month but the credits that have accumulated over the winter should net out against the bill from the warmer month. We'll see.

I believe Austin generally does not want residents to be overall net providers to the city, because they they'd have to deal with accumulated credits and having to somehow refund those to the residents. The idea is to get as many residents putting up systems as opposed to having each resident put up giant systems. But I don't think there is a way to officially prevent me from putting up a system that would provide 120% of my power; it's just a matter of available roof space.

Instructively, at least for me, my installer put an "e-gauge" on my system that gives me a real time readout of what my system is producing and what my house is using.  This was a revelation, and as a result, we've cut usage nearly 40%, and without much inconvenience at all.  I don't have much doubt that this could be widely done, though certainly tougher for a golf course or other business than for a residence.

It automatically came with my system; I've got an app on my phone. It does help increase accountability when you see the power production and usage hour-by-hour. I can look at the app and tell that we ran the dishwasher or dryer, especially now when the weather is mild and we're not using much air conditioning. Now that I've had it for a few months I can look at the app and provide a pretty good guess as to how hot of a day we had and how much sun we received.
