Baisden Shores - Ross in Tampa
« on: October 26, 2017, 11:47:45 AM »
In 1925, the Tampa newspapers ran a series of articles on plans for the Baisden Shores development (on the site of what is now MacDill AFB) with plans for a Donald Ross 18 hole course.

I have seen no record anywhere of this course, other than in these articles.

Has anyone ever heard of it?

Tampa Times - Oct. 3, 1925

Tampa Tribune - Oct. 4, 1925

Tampa Tribune - Dec. 13, 1925

"As much as we have learned about the history of golf architecture in the last ten plus years, I'm convinced we have only scratched the surface."  A GCA Poster

"There's the golf hole; play it any way you please." Donald Ross

There is a Bay Palms golf complex on land near a point identified on Bing Maps as Catfish Point.

Built well after Ross died.
