Dimples etc .......what could be.

Nice video from Mr Titleist but consider for a moment the opportunities for architecture and related matters if the ball spec were tweaked just a little bit - https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=aeibKavgytc

 8)  2400 yd courses if no dimples!   Of course one could also use wiffle balls and probably also get below 1000 yrs!

Somewhat ironic that this thread on the DG is, as I type, immediately being followed by a thread about America’s first 8,000 yd course.

That's fascinating. Obviously we all knew that the dimples on a ball were important, but not to that extent!

It would seem that restricting the ball for distance could be as straightforward as specifying the number and depth of dimples allowed...

What would really be cool is a tournament featuring flight restricted balls.  Kind of like a restrictor plate NASCAR race.  Sub 7000 yards at a great course, a huge charity benefit attached.  I'd be interested to see what the average driving distance would be, the round times, and the scores.

That also begs the question, what are the greatest courses that couldn't hold a top flight pro/amateur event due to being too short?
Don't play too much golf. Two rounds a day are plenty.
