lytham- It is a bit of a crap shoot, this year, for your intented trip. I am not sure about Black Mesa specifically, but as long as there hasn't been any recent snow storm, most of the courses here, are playable in January. The elevation at BM is similar to Farmington (5300 ft.) I think (?) If it is, and the moisture hasn't fallen, the course should be fine. Since this will be my third winter in the land of, and it being an el nino year, I suspect your chances are low for golf. Again, that's speculation. You may want to keep your options (plane tickets) open or just commit and if it is closed, there are other venues to golf. Not as good as BM, but Pinon is only 3 hours away. The same analysis of the weather applies. One other option would be to drive the four hours from ABQ to Lubbock, (Highly recommended)
