Balkans Golf
« on: July 18, 2017, 08:57:58 AM »
So I'll be in Belgrade Serbia for about a week in October, with a day or two extra at the end of my trip.  I can catch a bus or train to anywhere within reason, but will likely need to get back to Belgrade to catch my flight (as opposed to returning from a different city).

Any recommendations on where to golf?

Looks like 9 holes...

My one visit to the area was to Croatia in 2008...only saw one course, a rudimentary 9-holer in Split.  I think Croatia has another 18 someplace, but not sure where...

There was an interesting-looking course in Bulgaria that held a Euro tour event...Thracian Cliffs?

Not that you don't know this...but probably many more interesting things to check out in that part of the world than the local 9.
So I jump ship in Hong Kong....

I think you'd be much better off leaving the clubs at home and heading down to Split or Dubrovnik which are close by and I definitely wouldn't want to talk anyone out of golf but likely there is not much in a readable radius unless you are willing to fly.

The nearest interesting golf would be Bled in Slovenia or Penati in Slovakia. Both are around 600km from Belgrade. You can get a train to Jesenice in Slovenia, about fifteen minutes from Bled, that's the good news. The bad news is that it's about an eleven hour journey. Stick to sightseeing.
