A new page has been added to the Travis Society website that invites your observations/opinions/comments following your play of a Travis course.  The page is titled "Players Page" and is available at www.travissociety.com.

This is probably off-topic, but architecturally based comments, from participants on this site, based on first-hand experience with a Travis course would be welcomed.

Love Stafford. I'm playing there in a couple of weeks. I'd like to ask Travis what he was thinking when he built the 11th green. I'm thinking he was pissed at someone.

Travis did a few greens that bear some resemblance to the 11th at Stafford.  The 9th at Troy, 7th at Pennhills.  Intererstingly, we've had a couple of architects visit the course who took pictures of the 11th from several angle with the intent to use it.  On the other hand, I had a pretty decent golfer tell me that it should be dynamited.  Having played it for over 40 years, I love it.

I have played eleven Travis courses that I know of.  It maybe coincidence but I have noticed all the courses I have played in the Northeast have enormous elevation changes and subsequently very interesting uphill and downhill shots.  My favorite is Canoe Brook - North Course.
