There is something going on at the 14th.  There has been working going on left of the 13th green, might just be replanting grass.  I didn't notice, but there might be new high ground tee platforms.

BTW...a homer is a homer, that much is obvious if you think P'marnock's 14th is as cool looking as CC's.   8)

You need to stop besmerching one of the world's great holes (14 at PGC) and realise you don't have to be different to be cool... I would have taken you out there and taught you a lesson when you were over last week. Instead you had to go all hipster and go to Corballis and L&B and probably some fantastically under appreciated pitch 'n' putt!

The BIG 5 remain.

It didn't feel very hipsterish when we finished at Corballis and found the the joint was dry  :P

I didn't play a p n' p, but I regret not making it to Sutton GC to see the J Carr Room....next time for sure.

Rye 14th
Porthcawl 14th
Harlech 14th

are three very different, but equally challenging, short holes, but surely a strong candidate for the best 14th south of the Scottish border is the 14th at Brancaster, with one of the game's truly great second shots played into the prevailing wind over serious trouble. An even better 14th, I think, than Goswick's.

Historically there's been a certain calamitous par-3 14th at Royal Portrush (Dunluce) that's often spoken of highly.

Another thought about Rolling Green's 14: it takes you back to within sight of the clubhouse, before you play west to 15.

RG has a two hole "opening loop," which I recall Mayday saying Flynn liked because it allowed for a convenient sudden death playoff, but the return to the clubhouse as you prepare to play the final holes typically gives me a sense of the culmination of a course.  You have in sight your destination, but first you must navigate another four challenging holes.

My home course has something similar, but with 15, in that the final three holes play on a terrain unlike much of the other 15 holes before them.

I think the 14th at RG is one of the best on the course but not really a redan reverse or otherwise. Also consider the 14th at The Creek and the 14th at Southern Hills. The hole at SH gotta be in the top few par threes designed by Maxwell in my humble opinion.

This is the best 14th I've ever played - however as of last Saturday it's destiny is to become the 16th, thanks to changes in the routing and the construction of a new 7th and 8th that pushes back the rest of the round.

(by the way, in two plays I played Calamity Corner one stroke below par!)

Sould have added that the hole at the Creek is much better looking when the reeds are up! Of course
