Costco

I read an article recently about how people are saving significant money booking their vacations through Costco. I wonder if/when Costco would get in on the golf trip market?

Costco does currently offer discounted green fee packages at various courses around the country, while the list of courses does not seem to be stellar you can play 2 rounds at Ka'anapali for less than $200.

Costco offers a great deal on leather golf gloves. These gloves are premium quality and comparable to Titleist gloves. The plus for me is that they offer them for left-handed golfers... which are not always that easy to find in my club's pro shop (they just don't keep enough variety in stock).

At 4 for $25 I recommend the leather gloves without reservation. Not so much the synthetic ones... which are OK for practice, but not much else.

We should have a GCA concierge, personalized service, with searchable database (redans, turf conditions, etc.).  Try to match that, Costco!

You can go ask Tom what his margins are on a glove.  I buy shirts from my pro. Shirts = high margins and happy pro.

I'll never understand how people of good conscience can use this site as a method to cheat golf course owners and employees out of income. Another Costco thread...really?

As far as buying a golf shirt to sooth your soul. That story stopped selling itself years ago.

I stopped at my local Costco this morning to stock up on supplies for grilling and such. I also made sure to encourage the customer service desk to recommend that Costco Travel get in on golf trip planning services. I'm all in!

Buying shirt's from pros at a Doak 5s is about as thoughtful gesture one can do when visiting a course.  Cheating is taking a handful of tees or buying a golf glove.  Knowing profit margins is too much to ask for someone who paves roads.  I apologize for arguing with ignorance

How Costco is planning to jump into the golf club game
Now, Costco is getting into the golf club game with a Kirkland Signature KS1 putter. The putters are milled and made from 303 stainless steel, according to the Costco Connection magazine.

I am not, but to pick up on yesterday's OT brown liquor thread, Kirkland 22-year Speyside Single Malt currently on offer is a steal.

Kirkland brand liquor, in general, is unbeatable from a price-to-quality standpoint. I haven't had the single malt, but I can vouch for their single barrel bourbon, French Vodka, silver tequila, spiced rum, and silver rum. I don't do gin, but wifey says good things about the Kirkland brand version of that too.

I'm unlikely to buy a Kirkland putter as my 7 year old $70 Cleveland mallet is still the best club in my bag, but if Costco thinks it's worth $150, and if it mirrors the typical ratio of "how much the Kirkland golf product costs compared to a comparable quality offering from one of the big OEMs," then it'll be about as good as a $350 putter from another manufacturer. I'll never forget the original Kirkland ball... it smelled like pure gasoline and performed as well as any ball I've played.
