past, with the thought of changing a routing or sequence of holes due to being influenced later in life by a special course that moved them?  Do you feel as though you see more potential in dog tracks that you may have dismissed earlier in life due most likely to conditioning or a series of flaws in design/routing that you couldn't identify or articulate then but feel more comfortable now describing?  Do you have solutions?

I don't think of solutions unlessits for a course I really think is something special.  I think that all those publics and munis I grew up on are actually decent and sometimes worthwhile. These days there are very few places I would label dog tracks because I realize it can be a thin line between average, good and great.

Sean,

That was a PC response.   Special places typically need less thought.  I guess this thread is for people who enjoy playing lower end tracks and say what if.....

Sure, I think what if, but if the price is right I don't think too hard.  There aren't too many lower end tracks which I think could be special without a serious injection of money and skill.

I reminisce about what could've been if my home course growing up and the two nearby "lower end" courses hadn't had " a changing of routing or sequence of holes"

....all of which happened in my golf lifetime-all for the worse (Even though the final version of Augusta CC was improved"ish", it included the awkward routing and homogonization changes from previous "improvements")

Of course I would've liked ACC to still have 36 holes, having lost the Raynor course before my time
