Thank you, lads. You've kept the thread jovial and light.

Bill and Tim have both had the occasion to golf with my civility, such as it is. Bill saw me on my best at Yale, while Tim has seen me at Leatherstocking, Copake and Troy. Many patience, much virtue.

It seems that northern NJ is loaded with great golf. I'm looking forward to seeing some of these suggestions.
Coming in 2024

~Soaring Eagles

Privates: Forsgate(Banks) @ Exit8A NJ Turnpike &Mountain Ridge(Ross)

Public: Neshanic Valley & Ballyowen

I second the Mountain Ridge recommendation, it is a very underrated Ross gem.

Fortunately for me, I will be playing it when I am back in NJ in a few weeks for a visit.

Played Mountain Ridge and Essex County recently and can endorse both as worth your time. Mountain Ridge is an easier walk, if that matters. The back nine at Essex County is the best of the four nines. The big oak tree on the right side of #18 at Mountain Ridge has to go.

Haven't played Forsgate in a while but loved it. It was my first exposure to Steamshovel Banks and his efforts have been well preserved, or at least they were when I was there some 10 years ago.
