US Open venues: Clubs that have hosted one? Or those who have hosted multiple?

I recently played a couple of courses that hosted the US Open once in their history. It got me thinking: If you had to choose between playing the all of courses that have hosted multiple US Opens, but couldn't play the clubs that hosted only once or playing all of the courses that have hosted once, but you can't play those who have played multiple Opens, which would you choose?

No idea what that means.

But perhaps the question is, why did some clubs only host once?

Were they not good enough, or not long enough, or just not enough parking?

I would probably have more fun on most of the courses that were only 1x hosts of the US Open.  But I would have to go with the list of multi US Open hosts.  The best courses on this list are too great to want to pass up.


For me these include - Merion, TCC, Winged Foot, Olympic Club, Shinnecock, Myopia Hunt, Pebble Beach, Chicago GC, and some others.


Newport & Garden City are the only two big misses if I go with the first list.

Gotta go with the multiple open list because of one course...Myopia.  It is on my "list" and thats enough for me.

 8)  Yep all the once off choices are chopped liver, please pass the Ritz crackers: :)  by my initial numbers count,One gets to visit 28 single sites in 15 states versus the 23 multi-x sites in 12 states, give me the wider exposure please and I want to play Chambers again, visit friends in Seattle, taste fresh Tumwater products, and take a side trip down the Oregon coast for good measure.
