Dude, I mean DUDE...the fairway is 400 yards wide!!! Take that and smoke it in your pipe.

#18 at St. Andrews Old Course
Please. It's hard OB on the right.

I played TOC in a Scottish monsoon about 18 years ago. My ability to grip the driver pretty much disappeared after 14th hole.. After almost killing a German lady standing in the 2nd fairway with 270yd pull that never got higher than the roof on the Hotel, I over-adjusted and bounced my next tee-shot off the golf shop window and back into the 18th Fairway.

One way to take the Valley of Sin out of play..

It would be tough to lose one on 2 or 3 at Pasatiempo.

It happens more than you think.
The best bets for OM are probably #2 and #8.

Hey Sven, my buddy (and 18 handicap) Peter lost a ball on OM #2 short right while out there for the Kings Putter--the earth swallowed it up as it was pretty wet over there...

Since I've lost balls in the middle of dry fairways before (particularly, it seems, in Ireland, where it must be the leprechauns), I think the answer to this question is "None."

In homage and brotherhood to PVGC caddies.

Unless you hit it in the water very few balls are ever lost .

As Tom Doak succinctly said , this isn't always a good thing.   It also shows the value of caddies trying hard to get "out front" after leaving the green.   Also two guys fore caddying is better than one .

Jason,

Surprised to see this on there.  There is OB on both of those holes that is very much in play for an 18 capper...

P.S.  I think the implied premise of this thread is flawed.  An 18+ capper, (such as is the current state of my game) means I can lose a ball on just about any hole.  Why and how this relates to the top 100 holes in the world thou is a complete non-starter.

I lost a ball on the second at Pasatiempo only on Saturday. Beautiful drive, hybrid in hand for second, hit horrible hook into very thick stuff slightly short and left of the green. Easy.

Oh Yee of little faith......I can safely say we have had 18 handicap customers who could lose a dozen Volvik Vivid Matte multi-colored golf balls if they were playing on a sod farm......never underestimate the average golfer.
