Paul, I did see the movie and had to drive 3 hours to see it and 3 hours back home. I also read the book and feel that it was one of best books I have ever read. While the movie was no where near the greatness of the book as all movies born out of books, it is well worth driving to and seeing. Beautiful filming of sites that all will recognize if they have played those courses. The acting was very good and the golf scenes were really well done.
As a golfer, we should all see it. The movie, like the book is such a downer because the main character dies at the end of the movie.
I was thrilled that someone made the movie at all and that as a golfer, we owe it to those people to see it. If the real golfers don't see it, it will not be around long. It is the least we can do to thank them.
I met a golfer 2 hours before the move and he asked us where we were going. To a golf movie I said. He asked who the movie was about and I told him Tom Morris. He had never heard the name and he has played all his life and was a 5 handicap. That is why we should see it!
