I saw one when I played Columbine CC.

Apparently they used it to monitor pace of play.

Some superintendents are using them to assess maintenance needs and schedules.

The use of drones for photography has produced some nice pix from some never before seen angles but ... I can't help but feel that such drone photographs and the ease with which they are now taken and distributed via social media is contributing towards maintenance practices and design that is aimed more at looking good in photos rather than being good from a playability point of view. And the two imo are not the same.

Some cool shots.
But I far prefer shots of holes (taken by an aware photographer) of holes as they appear to the player.

Of course as an investor in a drone company with a proprietary GPS system(which is now a surveying company-lowest hanging fruit out there) I'm all for them.

After privacy laws are re-evaluated in light of the pandemic they will be outlawed for private use. My wife and I are currently quarantining is separate residences, to help assure our children of at least one surviving parent, and a drone recently observed her while she was in the pool. The footage recently aired on an episode of Finding Bigfoot. I am exploring legal recourse.

Sounds like they got the wrong residence..

In the biz, drones now do our topo maps for thousands of dollars rather than the tens of thousands required when flown by plane.  It has been a time and money saver, although I know a few engineering firms still trying to charge $30K, at least until everyone has figured out what the new standard cost is, at which time, I presume they will lower their prices. ;)

I'm all for drones being used to target groups playing at an over four hour pace.

I'm ok with one warning shot fired just behind them, as well.

After that, problem solved.

Last night was the first time in over three weeks that I had a drink. I am searching for the backstory on why I started the thread and it's uncharacteristic drunken brevity.

Barney,

Its all good.  Your Bigfoot post more than made up for it...one of the funniest things you've written in awhile!  ;D

P.S.  I feel the pain thou, I've been rationing my booze here at home so I don't make an unnecessary trip to buy more until hopefully this is all over!

They're a nuisance when used by hobbyists over private property without permission.  In addition to noise, I am also concerned about privacy.  Back in the late '70s when I was working with a premier defense contractor of that time, one of my projects involved aerial photography in bad weather.  The engineer heading the project once said that there were satellite cameras which could detect what the guard at the tower was reading from orbit.  I suspect that in 40 years that technology has been improved manifold.

Could help out a short-staffed rules committee. Don't want to get too close to the ball because of backwash.
