Thanks for posting that green, Garland. It is still a big IF whether it will ever get played.

The routing you posted of my sketch will actually be slightly different. The current 3rd green (new 12th) will stay where it is and the new 13th (current 4th to this new green shown on your post 49) will become a Par-5, just with the first half of the fairway shifted a little left to remove the feeling of claustrophobia on the tee shot and add some nice strategy. The current 11th (new 8th) extends through to the unused 9th green.

Given the above might be a few years away, we were down in November & January to finish the bunkering on the remaining 3 holes of the present course, as well as creating new tees on 9 & 15 and extending the fairway forward (far less carry) on both 6 & 15.

I suspect with Coronavirus, the club will be waiting a year or so before doing any more capital work.

Thanks for the update Ally and the bump from Garland.
Splendid course Strandhill, somewhere that deserves to be better known. I look forward to returning.

Google has been providing me web articles based on my interests in Irish golf. Strandhill has shown up on the two latest rating articles I was notified of.
