I thought: maybe the photographer was in/had to come to company headquarters in Bristol Connecticut anyway, so why not take the requisite golf photo right there. Chippanee has been there as a private club since the mid 20s.

Issue of Golf Illustrated is 1922. Definitely not Chippannee.

Early on New  Haven  CC   back  nine there's  par 3 over water now. This reminds me a bit
