My favorite par 3 in the US is the 5th at Ballyneal which has many different angles and the various bunkers as well as hole locations make for a whole bunch of fun and challenges.
Great hole; that pot bunker with an opening to either side of it makes so many options possible, but not without risk. It's also interesting in the routing coming only 2 holes after the short par 3 3rd, which may be my favorite visual at Ballyneal. Just a stunning hole and wonderful green site. Only 20 yards shorter than the 5th, but a completely different challenge.

Any comments on how #9 at Chambers Bay played in the US Open?

This is another great example. I can't comment on how it played during the Open, but I do love the different looks.

Here's the shot from the upper (regular) tees:

And here's a look from the long, lower, alternate tees:

In fairness, I like the hole more from the upper tees, from which the hole plays like a fun Reverse Redan, and would be mildly disappointed during a round to see that it was set up to play from the lower, but for multi-round tourneys and pro events, I like that they have this option.
