What course would you like to see profiled in "Courses by Country"

Building off the other thread I posted last week. Just curious, if you could pick one course for Ran to profile and feature in the "Courses by Country" section, what would it be and why?

A profile of one or more of the desert courses in the Middle East might be interesting and educational.
A area where things have moved on in just a couple of decades......where once folk played from self carried pieces of astroturf and putted on oiled greens they now can play on highly conditioned green grass courses with no effective natural water and circa 45* in the summer.

I don't think such developments should be encouraged.


The sight of lush golf courses in deserts simply compounds the negative view commonly held among people across the world of golf being exclusively a rich man's pastime despoiling landscapes and squandering vital resources.


As if the election of President Trump wasn't bad enough for the image of golf...

I'd definitely be interested to read Ran's thoughts on Kyle Phillips' Yas Links in Abu Dhabi. I thought the course was superb, not just in terms of Middle Eastern courses. If it was in continental Europe it would be top ten without a doubt.


If I had to choose one course to be profiled that's not currently listed it would though have to be Morfontaine. From the photos I've seen it just looks a special, special place.

The course I want to see profiled is the one which will surprise me.  Who knows what that will be, but Ran did quite well in 2016.

Duncan,
I get where your coming from about encouragement etc but the courses exist so lets's learn a bit about them. Indeed turn on Sky at 11:00am today and the annual Abu Dhabi event is on TV. And next week it's Doha then The Emirates in Dubai. The area has been a significant growth area for golf over the last couple of decades. How long it will continue is another story but let's learn while there there.

I would love to see a profile on White Bear Yacht Club. I see it sits at #1 on the Next Fifty to see, so think it could be a good contender.

Why?: My knowledge of the club and course is very limited, but I believe it is a Donald Ross design that is routed over rolling terrain. From pictures, a course that seems similar is Eastward Ho!, which is one of my favourite courses.

The other thread I can't possibly answer with ONE profile that I like the best.

This one is easy.

Having been one of the rare great courses I have played, and giving how much I love it, I would love to see a profile of it. It's also number one of the Next Fifty U.S. list, so it must be high on the priority list.

I speak, of course, of White Bear Yacht Club.

I must say, I'd love to see Brookside (Canton) as well, currently #4 on the Next Fifty list.

I would like to see The Creek profiled, but Ran should probably wait until after the major restoration that is coming in the summer of 2017.  Personally, it's one of my favorites, but Mr. Doak thought highly enough to profile it as one of his 31 in the Original Confidential Guide.


I also wouldn't mind seeing Huntington Country Club.  Ian Andrew has done a wonderful job with that Emmet and it's just a pleasure every time out.


I wonder if these requests give away where I reside...

I would love to see a profile of Somerset Hills, which strikes me as a highly regarded club that somehow still flies under the radar.

I've heard and read such great things, but never been. There are course tours out there already, but there is just something about Ran's selective use of photos (at times from unique angles) along with his incredibly descriptive commentary about a course and its history that make it just come alive.
