Stewart,

Thanks for kicking me while I was down! I as so looking forward to Swope. The good thing, my wife has agreed to go back there in the spring or summer for a long weekend, so I will get to play 18 when I probably would have only been able to play 9 holes anyway! Thanks for pics! No BBQ pics? ???

Rich - No reason for you to be down. You had a great trip. We always have to draw the line somewhere. Since you skipped Black Mesa when you do make it to KC you can also consider giving Sycamore Ridge a shot. It was designed by Baxter Spann, who also did Black Mesa. Sycamore has two very different nines. One is very open, windy and allows for run up shots. The other nine is wooded, hilly and requires carries over native areas on some tee shots and approaches  https://www.flickr.com/photos/golfcoursepix/albums/72157684520553393 Sycamore photos

I did have some great  BBQ, but no pix. I had BBQ corn on the cob for the first time which was excellent also ribs and great brisket burnt ends.

I once looked at a piece of property up on top of one of the buttes in Moab for Mr. Keiser.  It could have been spectacular, but once I explained that the sand was probably only a few inches deep and then it would probably be all rock, the cost of construction tripled and he quickly gave up on the idea.  It's pretty remote out there, I had a hard time visualizing they would attract enough golfers with $$ to support a big course.  What a shame!

Also, those central bunkers on the 9th at Swope Park look awesome, but there had to be more room to one side of them or the other when they were built.  [And no cart path!]
