Jack Weiner and I are staying there.

You won't be disappointed.

I just looked at the spreadsheet...my dates for the hotel are incorrect...its Riverhaven 11 Aug thru 13 Aug.  So I am in town Friday night...we shall have to find a suitable restaurant.  Simply Italian and Tuscan Kitchen are good options....with Simply perhaps a bit cheaper.

Ciao

One of those Italians was the site of dinner the night Drinkin' Joe Buehler got his nickname.  We had drinks, dinner and vino and headed back to the hotel in company with Bob Jenkins and someone else.  Up the hill Joe spies a pub.  How about a nightcap he says.  Four Guinesses later he had a new nickname.

You'll get what you pay for. The original owners of the Tuscan Kitchen have retaken possession and the food there is excellent; Simply Italian is in the vast realm of average. If you're not stuck on Italian, try the Standard Inn just down the High St. They started serving very good food about a year ago. On Friday nights, booking almost everywhere is essential.

I'm showing I sent a deposit via Paypal on March 10 but credit for said payment isn't reflected on the spreadsheet.  What, if anything, do I
need to do.  BTW, payment is shown as having been sent to Tony Muldoon.  Is this an error on my part?

Yes Steve

I'm collecting the money.

NB The list is now CLOSED.

Please no one send more deposits. We have reached the no for Rye so need a breathing space to clarify. Will be a follow up post by Monday.

Bump.

Payment for golf at Rye is now needed. The fee for the day - 2 rounds and lunch - is GBP 92. Please send the fee to Tony Muldoon via paypal. Instructions are in post #37. Since the match at Rye is full and have a wait list, please send your fee to Tony by 30 June. If we don't receive your fee by then, you might lose your spot at Rye to someone on the wait list.

Additionally, if anyone would prefer only one round on the old course at Rye, let me know. You'd have the option of playing additional holes on the Jubilee at your leisure.

Craig,

Just to check - are you assuming that everyone is playing two rounds on the Old Course at Rye unless they advise you otherwise?

All the players who are in red on the spreadsheet are confirmed to play 2 rounds on the old course at Rye. If anyone prefers playing their match on the Jubilee - whether 9 or 18 - or just one round on the old course, that's their choice.

Note the deadline for paying the full amount for Rye. We have an invoice which needs to be settled. After 30 June, it will be first come, first served until we are at 24.

Isn't it time to talk about who are going to be the team captains?

I was captain for the GB+I team at St Enodoc/Perranporth which drew 12-12 against mighty Lou Duran's American team so it is someone else turn to be captain

The captains should be relatively familiar with the participants so they can create pairings without too much struggle.

Since this is a "home game" for Craig I nominate him for the ROW team... and, Niall for the GB&I team. Not sure if they have captained before, but who cares?

Congratulations to the lucky pair, glad to see the issue of Captains is settled;D
David M has sweet talked Royal St Georges into letting us have two tee times at Royal St Georges on the day following, Tuesday the 15th .  £190.00  It is exceptional for them to allow unaccompanied play in August, so this is a rare opportunity.
At present there is one spot spare at 10.20am.  Email me if you are interested.  First come, first dibs.

Good grief, you turn your back for a couple of days and this is what happens !! On the basis that someone has to do it, I'm happy (and indeed flattered to be asked) to do the job if no one else wants to do it.

Some final details on the match - the schedule has been updated in the first post:

When arriving at Littlestone on Saturday, everyone will pay their balance at the bar. The club will be aware of those not playing Monday - Levett, Arble and Hiseman and will discount accordingly. The amount due will be GBP120 for those playing both days; this includes dinner Saturday. Dinner will be poached salmon. Anyone with fish allergies should let me know. Wine will be on the table.

On Sunday, after finishing at Rye, we've reserved several tables at a pub 10 minutes by car from Rye at 7PM. It's a long-time CAMRA pub with very good food and an extensive selection of locally caught fish.

Let me know if anyone plans on playing one round only on either day. I've arranged for a Rye member to fill in for the one vacancy and may need additional local members at Littlestone.
