2016 Photos of the Year: B-Sides
« on: December 19, 2016, 12:40:00 AM »

In previous years, I've found that the photos posted on the "B-Sides" thread often outmatched the official photo contest entries.

So show us what you got!

Would be nice if folks told us which courses were being shown - we don't all have the encyclopaedic knowledge of some on here.  :)

Don't know who the "golfer" is but the drainage on that course is shocking  ;)

How is this possible? Do you mean as a whole, or that the best of the Bs improved on the best of the As?

Here are a few of my favorites from 2016 that weren't submitted in the contest.

Joe Bausch after making a hole-in-one on No. 7 at Greenacres in Lawrenceville, New Jersey.

A view Oakmont's 17th hole and its Skyline green in Oakmont, Pennsylvania.

Looking up the incline on No. 18 at Manufacturer's in Fort Washington, Pennsylvania, on a dreary fall afternoon.

Contemplating almost certain death from the ruins on No. 14 at Fieldstone in Greenville, Delaware. (I took a drop).

One person's B is better than another's A. And sometimes one person chooses option B as their A when I would've chosen otherwise.

How is this possible? Do you mean as a whole, or that the best of the Bs improved on the best of the As?

You mean this one .... I thought it was a clever use of irrigation flags ... it was really windy

Here are some B-siders.

Begin with another view of the Par-3, 8th at Sea Ranch Golf Links, Gualala, Ca.
I fell out of the tree after taking this and saved the camera but injured my shoulder.

Next, the par-3, 17th on the Players Course at Indian Wells. Took this two weeks ago in perfect light:

Here's one from the Canmore Golf and Curling Club, Canmore, Alberta, Canada

Coyote Moon, Truckee, California: The Par-5, 12th

Desert Willow, Firecliff, Par-3, 17th

I made my first visit to Ireland this year. I wouldn’t call these my “B-sides” as they are limited by the weather and light conditions I had at the moment and where my golf shot led me to on the courses, so they aren’t the among  the best photos I’ve taken this year (So maybe they are my C sides (and some are seaside)) , but they are among my favorite memories.

I am not astute enough to separate the content from the composition, but those are wonderful photos, Kyle.
Also: if all courses had, each in their way, the strking sense of place that Wolf Pointe does, I would not ask for anything more.
Thanks to all of you who have posted.
Congratulations, Joe!
A peaceful and joyous Christmas to those who celebrate it, and happy and enriching holidays to all.
