Well done, John Wiggett, for your photo behind the 7th at Tobermory.
Lot of lessons in this one.

The horizon is straight, it shows the design of the hole, and the photographer does not reveal his 'hand' by overcooking, over sharpening, over saturating, or over clarifying.  The colors look real, as does the sky and everything else.

There are no golfers to distract from or date a photo of a classic hole.

The flag plays a prominent role.

It is what you would see with your eye.

With this shot, John Wiggett did not get in the way.

My category A contribution from a trip to Lost Farm in January.

The photos are of 15, 1 (from well right of the tee), 14 and 1 (from the clubhouse)

My favourite shot is the last of the group (and I like the second last one of my favourite hole on the course) but of those to whom I've shown the photos, most votes came for the shot of 15 which captures the essence of the hole.  So I'll go with that as my entry.

None of the photos were edited - just what the camera captured on the appropriate settings.

A few for consideration;

The very last photo taken of the historic clubhouse of Cobb's Creek Golf Course.   It sadly burned to the ground two nights later.

The old 17th tee at Shawnee on the Delaware drove directly across the 16th (Binnikill) green.   My wife and I went there last winter and surprising found the tee largely intact if overgrown.

Finally, my "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" entry, as a few of us tried to envision what the architects of Cobb's Creek originally intended for their 18th hole two weekends ago.

I took this the morning I played The Old Course this past October. You know you're in for a good day when...

Will have to think of a good submission for the traditions aspect of it.

Also, can anyone tell me best practices for uploading photos to the forum? Never entirely sure the best way to do it. Feel free to message me, as I don't want to muddy up the contest thread.

See above, Sean.
I posted this:

Help  For More Effective Sizing of Your Entries: Many of us have posted photographs that do not fit the pages.  Here's the remedy:Post your image to Photobucket and find the button that looks like a paintbrush in a tablet. It's the middle one in a row of five, top portion of your image.Click on that. You have activated the 'Edit' button.Your photo will reappear with a new, more detailed  menu on top. CLICK 'RESIZE' Not 'Crop'. 'RESIZE'. The screen will provide new options for size parameters. To be certain that a horizontal  shot fits the page, choose a maximum of  500 wide. For vertical shots, you will want something narrower depending on crop proportions. Your entire photo should appear on the page. Having resized, hit the 'Save' button in Photobucket. When your resized image appears, copy the address from the 'Direct' tab to the right of that photo. Paste that address into one of these reply boxes. Use the  img protocols with the [] and [/] on either side, no spaces. Having pasted and protocoled,  hit the 'Preview' button in the reply box. If it shows the photograph being too large or too small, return to Photobucket, resize again and paste again until you're pleased with the result.  Then, 'Save' it for real. I hope this helps.   Best of luck.w.

No course photos for me this year, but in the People & Traditions category, I did capture this one of Coach Goss taking the tunnel route with the El passing by on the Reverse Alps with Tunnel Option hole at this year's Reverse Jans.

Took a couple thousand photos this year so choices are tough.

A:

16th green at Meadow Club - Alister MacKinzie work of art.

A couple of my favorites:

Bunker with a view. Kyle Philips - South Cape Owners Club - Sacheon, Korea

Brandon Preserve

Turnberry's awesome new hole from Martin Ebert

B.

Do you pray to the Golf Gods in thanks? I decided to start this year after being graced with a second chance on a perfect day at Cypress.

Truly a global game at Naruo, Japan. (This is the cart that takes you back up the hill to the clubhouse for lunch break.

A couple others I found appropriate:

Shanqin Bay - entrance to the club house from the 18th green.

Play it as it lies, this was the result of most tee shots at Quivera in Cabo. Amazed given it was 95 degrees and not humid and hadn't rained.

Nice shot, but not an official entry. This came in by accident and I cannot figure out how to delete it.
That said...it's the par-3, 17th on the Firecliff Course at Desert Willow.

Note to self:

Never tee it up against Brad Tufts. Be sure he is my partner, if even I have to rig the ball toss.

Nice photo Brad, and congrats on all that hardware!
