Being a dull sort and somewhat grounded in reality  ::) I immediatly think of small courses built by locals that if I'd been in the right place at the right time it could have been me doing it... So there is only one winner, Durness!

Peter,
Could we expand this thread to a course (not yet built) that you wish was built?  Don't want to thread jack.

Rustic Canyon is what jumps to mind. Affordable, good golf available to anyone.

Yeah I would say Rustic Canyon also because it is one of the few courses without lakes and island greens. I don't know if I have the creativity to see what a course would look like with a piece of land, but if I brought in the right teammates, then I could do it.

I would love to redesign a 9 hole course and build Sweeten's Cove.

Cabot Links.  A beautiful, traditional links course on repurposed land in a spectacular setting, it has also served to revitalize a community and perhaps even a region. By bringing more golfers to Cape Breton, it will also help to preserve Highland Links and deepen the golf world's appreciation of it.  And, as a bonus -- though surely it was part of the master plan -- Cabot Links paved the way for Cabot Cliffs.

I'm currently doing an @linksgems tribute on @buffalogolfer, and organizing my favorite images I've shot over the years. The course in the Americas that I wish I had built is Eastward Ho!

I would alter nothing of what is there (or what Keith Foster has returned to ... there.) Spectacular land forms, unequaled views, top-shelf routing, and a near-death experience if you come flying down #18 in a cart, in the gloaming, and don't know that a precipitous drop lurks.

St. Andrews New Course

Jeff, I would love to hear your thinking for this choice if you're willing to share.  I didn't have a chance to play it in my one visit to St. Andrews, but I would love to next time.  It seems like a great choice because of it's natural look and great playing conditions, but I'm curious what specifically stands out to you.
