Amazing how many of those courses are NLE and/or holes have been altered or removed Joe.

Is the statement on the first hole presented accurate suggesting there were only 18 courses in Delaware in 1966?

Could be, I only have record of 14 courses in Delaware that existed at some point up to 1940.

It's interesting to note that Bidermann was barely open when this came out and I'm surprised they wanted anyone to know about it.  Shawnee is now Rookery North Hole 11... and it's still legitimately difficult.  Seaford CC is Hoopers Landing 17 I think.  They've renumbered the holes there a couple of times.  Sad to say Hercules is no more, it was a fun and challenging course.

#12 Nemours confuses me. It looks like number 18 to me. I was playing there in 1966.

Now that I can read the print I see it is number 12 in the series and is indeed  the old #18.

I would have thought Concords 14th would be there since we are close to the First State.
We have a pool and a pond, the pond would be good for you.

If your pro charges sales tax in the shop, you don't count as Delaware.  Them's the rules.

I think one of my drives might have ended up in DE the day I played with Fast Eddie.  Does that count?!

I played Delaware National (FKA Hercules, NLE under all names, alas) six months after I arrived in the U.S.  Fun course.  I remember 6 well, I think.

Well since you were there we renovated 13 and just got done 2. Sadly the vote on the master plan, that includes finally fixing 14, is off until the spring.

Two has a new green and more extensive bunkering. We kept the ' Flynn " in the green and just did some tweeking to flatten out part of it. I think we picked up about 40% more possible hole locations. Five is having the greenside bunker expanded a bit, also adding the Flynn look to the bunker.

Some new shorter tees are in and being cleaned up. Hopefully about 50 more trees will be gone shortly.

All in all good progress.

I must have driven by Concord hundreds of times during my commutes between West Chester and Wilmington from 2006-2009.  Same with Wilmington Country Club.  God I love that part of the world.

Greenhill #3
Louviers #9
Nemours #18
Rock Manor #3
Are holes I agree with.

#18 at Newark is goofy.
#18 at DuPont is better now after Lester George’s renovation. You are enticed to drive the creek.

Mike and Joe - have you ever seen Hoopers Landing, FKA Seaford CC (A. Tull 1939)? Those original green complexes that are still there are spectacular.

I have played Hoopers Landing in April of 2018. Those are some wonderful old school greens in need of some TLC.

Joe,

This is the year RBCC opened on the point so 3 was brand new when this was written - or the third hole at the 9 holer downtown was set up the same. The one today has the same basic concept.

Golf construction & maintenance are like creating a masterpiece; Da Vinci didn't paint the Mona Lisa's eyes first..... You start with the backdrop, layer on the detail and fine tune the finished product into a masterpiece
