Greg,
Kye Goalby did the work on no. 3 and no. 5, building five new holes to make up for the two being lost to make way for the short course. He and I also worked on bunker restoration of course 3, restoring bunkers on holes 2, 5, 8, 14, and 15. We left in late February and from there Kyle Franz was wrapping up at Pine Needles and took over the restoration efforts, planning to finish the remaining ~9 holes that need work this spring.
Carl,
What Kye did on no. 3 was not restorative, but certainly sympathetic to the style that was once there and is similar with no. 2. With the bunker restoration work, any time a bunker could go back to where it originally was, we did it/are doing it. Condos, shrinking of corridors, and course 5 having some of the original course 3 holes, limits some of that work, so there's improvisation.
