totally unlike Donald Trump's empire... public and reasonably priced.

Steve -

Sure sounds like he has gone about the business the right way. Thanks for the link.

The best of his lot could be Downingtown:

My only gripe about my visit this summer is they don't have a walking rate on weekends.  The previous owners did.

So the rate was I think 81 or 85 bucks.  I won't play on weekends there anymore.

I always liked Riverwinds in NJ. Still no club house or driving range there? I thought Jaws was talking about building a small club house there... like Twisted Dune.  How have course conditions been?

Not been back in many years.  But I will re-visit this fall, hopefully.   But not on a weekend!

Jaws has a great business model in place for public courses and has turned around a number of fledgling courses into nice public options.  And now he has his sights set on Ramblewood, which is in terrible condition but is a distinct challenging play with 27 holes.  I'm looking forward to seeing whether he can turn that course around.

Riverwinds is an example of a course that was in almost as bad shape as Ramblewood, but is now much more interesting and in nice shape conditions wise.  I played it last November and it was an entirely different course than when I last played it at one of its low points, circa 2008.

He continues to revitalize courses in the area and maintains a nice balance of providing a great golfing experience while attracting the casual golfer without compromising the playability or interest of the courses.

Speaking of Riverwinds, let's see what happens with the club house:

Jaworski pops up all over greater Hartford's courses when he is working for ESPN. I played behind him a couple years ago at one of the areas better munis and he played fast and seemed like a good guy. Best of luck to Jaws going forward.

i'm curious if anyone knows the answer.

Does Jaws own all of the courses he is connected with or does he also offer his services for management only?

Ramblewood was our home course when I was in college. It's mediocre at best both architecturally and agronomically but Jaws will do a good job with it. I always liked Downingtown, glad he's got it in his portfolio- Jaws is a great guy and loves the game.

What became of Ron Jaworki's Eagle's Nest GC in Sewell, New Jersey?   I believe that course by William & David Gordon (originally Tall Pines GC, I  believe) bit the dust but don't know why.

Add Ramblewood CC(Ault) to Jaws' growing empire. He's the Donald Trump for the regular recreational/retail golfer:

Just played the blue nine at Ramblewood with a fellow GCAer on Jan 2.  Together with the other 18 the photos are here:

Count me as the odd man out, but I've found his courses to be overpriced and generally uninteresting. Blue Heron Pines was in a lot better shape when it wasn't owned by Jaws. I had the chance to play there last year and was appalled at how much the conditioning had slipped. Better open courses than closed courses, but I don't see Jaws a savior of public golf...

Jaws biz model seems to be similar to the Donovan's at Valley Country Club, a big profit center on weddings and functions.  I would have loved to spend a post round 19th hole with Art Donovan, alas he passed away a few years ago.  Jaws seems like my kinda golf mogul and probably regales his customers in some great stories.  Now Joe Flacco appears to have gotten into it.  Maybe the Jaws Enterprises needs to look into an in-house remodel specialty archie.   ;D 8)

No actual golf rounds were ruined or delayed, nor golf rules broken, in the taking of any photographs that may be displayed by the above forum user.
