Ben mentions the Royal St David's and Aberdovey combo, which if we get the train from Harlech to Aberdovey would make for a great trip. I've said I would be happy to assist him in organising this, but it would make my life (and Ben's I suspect) if this could be put on the back burner for a year or two?
Robin has said he would be happy to look at a possible trip to Machrihanish and Mach Dunes and that a pretty good deal is possible with his connections, but again as he only recently arranged Carne in Ireland suspect thats one for the future. Out of interest, how do people feel about getting to Machrihanish? I drive a lot to Scotland so dont have an issue myself, but suspect some people may think its a bit out of the way? Thoughts???
So that leaves 2 firm proposals, unless anyone else is willing to stick their hand up to organise something? Remember, we can all hypothosize about what would make a good Buda venue, but its down to someone having the connections, time and inclination to sort it that counts (he says putting a dampner on exciting chat about a whole range of places!)
So in addition to Mark's excellent suggestion of Goswick in the north east of England, we have Steve Wilson's suggestion of Golspie (and Brora.)
I'd be very happy with either of these! My preference is probably Golspie as it can be tied into a trip to see my parents who live just up the coast, but I was dissappointed to miss Mark's smaller scale GCA trip to Goswick a few winters ago and would love to see it for myself.
Either way, I look forward to hearing further details as they are developed (or any other proposals that may come forward of course!) and hope that which ever one we go for, we could do the other the year after?
Cheers,
James
