Rich G. implies that places like these, or Kington, are not BUDA worthy, but the only BUDA I have attended was at Painswick, and that was as interesting as they come.  Rich must be losing his memory if he doesn't agree.

Not an easy BUDA to forget.  I remember every detail. The Limey's wore gray, you wore blue.

If we could get Kington for 3 days with complete freedom of the course and one great night filling the clubhouse, as we did at Painswick, as well as finding relatively nearby accommodation for ~24 people, I'd be happy to go to Kington.  Just don't expect me to climb those hills for 90 holes over 3 days and shoot under par on the final 18.  Those days are gone for me.....

:) Very nicely done, Rich...or should I say "Rick"!

You guys should just go to Formby and play there for 3 days, and let the better team win!

Yes. Painswick.  Dinner conversation with Peter McEvoy and then Delia Mason -

In a big office block
on a big boardroom door
a big sign with gold letters read
World Head of Golf Course Architects
affectionately known as big Ed.
He was tough, he was warm
and his talent immense
he loved golf with a passion so strong
he believed that the course was the master
and no-one would prove his thought wrong....

Si, if given about a year's advance warning (with total commitment) I can try to hook up a superb place (not cheap though!) and grab Kington for a few days, though complete freedom of the course is asking something you wouldn't get anywhere....a man's gotta know his limits. Of course.

After some routine negotiations we've made firm arrangements for the 2017 Buda Cup. The venues will be Littlestone GC and Rye GC, played over the weekend of 12-14 August. On Saturday, two rounds at Littlestone, foursomes in the morning and 4bbb in the afternoon followed by dinner in the club dining room. Sunday Rye, morning foursomes, lunch, afternoon foursomes, possibly on the Jubilee course. Monday at Littlestone, 2-ball matches in the morning.

I'll open a separate thread in the new year which will give details on how to register and the cost.

Great work, Craig!

This could be an epic BUDA.  Regrettably, I may not be able to play on Saturday, August 12 as I will probably (possibly?) be playing in the Carnegie Shield final at Dornoch.  In that case, I'll fly my G5 down that night and be ready for combat the next morning.  What is the nearest airport for a private jet?  I'll have to speak to my pilot, beforer I can fully commit.

Finally, will there be room in the Inn in Rye in which some of us stayed at the most recent meeting?  The one that has the killer 9% ABV Cloudy Cider on tap?  That's all I can remember of that BUDA, but my pilot will appreciate this information.

All the very best

Rich

Craig, put me and Conrad Gamble down for this, please.
In June I will be riding the first three stages of this year's Tour de France route for charity.  630km (394 miles) in three days, with 7800m (25,600 feet) of climbing for the William Wates Memorial Trust (https://rideleloop.org/the-charity/) which supports underprivileged young people.

My name is the hat for BUDA once again.  Thanks, Craig.
