Golf Range Magazine's October 2016 cover story is an expanded Q&A with golf course architects about practice facility design. Included in the Q&As are Lester George, Gil Hanse, Rees Jones and Bill Coore. To read the story, follow the URL listed below.

Golf Range Magazine? What's next? Ball Washer Maintenance Magazine?

Anyway, pretty boring.

Same exact questions to all 4 architects and all answers predictably similar.

Ranges and practice facilities continue to evolve. GCA has had several threads on best practice facilities.

It's a basic circle with the guy selling netting, range pickers and balls paying the bill.  Magazine sells the ad, writer give the four archies some press and voila another magazine.  Not saying anything they say is wrong but range magazines and conferences are no different than a Golf Inc conference where the management companies and suppliers go to congregate...

I've seen a couple of ranges where old cars have been positioned at various spots and boy-oh-boy don't the patrons just love hitting shots at them! 😄 "Smack!".

Extensive short game including bunker practice areas are the key though....and massive putting greens.
