I recall a men's Major winning pro once being asked by a commentator how he dealt with the pressure of a certain putt for either victory or play-off.


The reply? Well it was akin to "Pressure, what pressure! Whatever happens I'm gonna make a big cheque! Real pressure is the putt to make the cut when you've played .... all year, have made no money and you've a wife and kids at home to feed and cloth and a mortgage to pay!"

Retief Goosen put on an historic display of putting in the last round of the 2004 U.S. Open to edge out Phil.

I remember reading that Jerry Barber sank putts of 20 feet, 40 feet and 60 feet on the last three holes of the PGA to win the tournament.

Yes, Carta's putt on the 35th hole was from off the green. She had to hole that putt to keep the match alive.

Seong's putt on the 36th green won her the match. She likely could have won even if she had 2-putted, but we will never know for sure about that.

It was a terrific championship on a fabulous looking golf course and another indelible expression of just how special these amateur events are.

These women know how far it needs to be hit; how far they hit it; and they it straight to that distance.
We had the Pa. Men's Open last year and they weren't as good as these women.
Many of these women are professional amateurs.

A friend of mine said that I got as much tv on Saturday as Trump!
